Who are Mockingbird Investments?

MBI was “founded” by three solo investors, looking to improve their returns and recognising that what they really lacked was other investors to chat with about their ideas and approaches. They needed a conversation, to learn from and to question their own biases and perspectives. A chance meeting grew into online chats, which morphed into regular meetings over craft beer and food. Eventually friends started asking about MBI and for advice, and the group grew. The crew realised that there are a range of investors out there looking for the same thing and this blog is a way of hopefully reaching out to more people like them.

We are all self directed, coming from a range of ages and backgrounds and we are looking to gain experience, learn and improve our investment game. Primarily we are investors not traders, we spend less time talking about the price of a stock, and much more on the underlying business fundamentals, and the broader macro and industry position.

Meetings tend to be informal. We value open and honest discourse, and learning from each other.  The blog is intended to support these conversations by opening up our discussions to a broader audience, and improving our investment ideas.
